Leadership Development

Training to strengthen public sector leadership.

This training helps leaders demonstrate the behaviours expected under the GoC’s key leadership competencies:

  • Creating Vision and Strategy
  • Mobilizing People
  • Upholding Integrity and Respect
  • Collaborating with Partners and Stakeholders
  • Achieving Results
  • Promoting Innovation and Guide Change

What I offer

The training uses a mix of reading, discussion and mentoring. It includes a review of clients’ own leadership situations to:

  • Address challenging situations successfully
  • Demonstrate expected leadership behaviours in daily work
  • Meet performance agreement competency objectives

I developed this approach over four years as a member of ESDC’s Mentoring Program, and have refined it further since launching my business in 2022.

Discussion topics also include specific challenges and interests, such as:

  • Maintaining work-life balance
  • Leading through difficult times
  • Briefing senior executives
  • Difficult conversations and performance management
  • Ethical situations
  • Getting the experience for advancement

How training works

Individual training starts with a discovery session. We then create a training plan and schedule, with specific discussion topics to meet client goals.

Each 60-minute session explores topics as follow:

  • Review the leadership competency or topic – what is expected and why
  • Discuss reading material (ex. Harvard Business Review)
  • Analyze a real-life situation – what is challenging, available tools, competencies at play and how to apply them
  • Share my own experience, if relevant
  • Consider next steps

Sessions are usually every 3-4 weeks.

Discussions are fully confidential. What happens in training, stays in training.

Group training follow a similar process, but with group discussion sessions lasting about 90 minutes.
